Тема «Защита окружающей среды»
(УМК М. Кауфман, К. Кауфман), 7 класс

Цель урока: обобщить представления обучающихся об экологических проблемах в городе, научить их использовать английский язык как инструмент общения в диалоге культур современного мира.
Задачи урока: - обобщение и систематизация полученных знаний в различных видах речевой деятельности: в упражнениях по чтению, говорению, письму; контроль умений и навыков учащихся вести беседу, высказывая свое мнение по теме;
- развитие памяти, мышления, умения обобщать, делать выводы, навыков самостоятельной и творческой работы;
- формирование чувства сопричастности к проблемам окружающей среды, чувства любви и уважительного отношения к природе и чувства ответственности за ее сохранение перед грядущими поколениями;
Оборудование: карта “Eco Problems of Our Town”, аудиозаписи, аудиоприложение к УМК для 7 класса, презентация Microsoft Power Point, раскладушка из работ (проектов) учащихся “How Can I Help the Environment”, приложения, рисунки.

T.: (слайд 1) Good morning, dear friends. I’m glad to see you. How are you today? I think everything is OK. This lesson is the last one on the topic “Protection of the Environment”. Today we are going to discuss the problems of the environmental protection.
T.: (слайд 2) Let’s revise our words and expressions. Look at the screen, listen and repeat.
- polluted air, water - to breathe
- the atmosphere - to recycle
- the environment - deforestation
- ecological problems - greenhouse effect
- litter, rubbish - acid rain
T.: (слайд 3) Children, look at the screen. Let’s read the motto of our lesson: “Look after this planet, it’s the only one we have” (The appeal of Prince Philip of Britain, president of the World Wide Fund for Nature).

T.: Children, do you like our town? Do you want to see it clean?

T.: Please, look at the map. (слайды 19,20) The pictures show some environmental problems of our town. All these problems are global. The letters SOS mean “Save our souls!” – “Спасите наши души!” (слайд 21)

Friends, at home you had to make short reports about the ecological problems of our town and suggest some important rules to protect the environment. Let’s discuss them. Who wants to be the first? (Учащиеся высказывают свое мнение по теме, используя карту) (слайд 20).
P1: I want to be the first. Paper comes from trees. If we don’t recycle paper, people will cut down trees. Fires are started. We like flowers, but people shouldn’t pick wild flowers. People, don’t harm plants!
If trees are destroyed and people pick flowers and grass, birds and animals may become extinct. People, don't harm plants!
P2: We throw away too much and in the wrong place. We leave litter near the river. The water is polluted and the fish in the river die. Local industry pours its waste into the river Usen. The cleaning structures don't work well. People, help to keep all water clean!
P3: Many years ago the Usen was deep and wide. Peter and I sailed on the river. People used to fish a lot. Today people like fishing too. But some things that they use for fishing kill animals. People, protect animals and fish!
P4: We should keep our districttidy. It is our home. We must take care of it for ourselves and for future generations. There are many springs near our village. A lot of children from our school clean them. It's wonderful to drink some spring water on a hot summer day. Children, clean springs!
P5:. You can see different kinds of trees and flowers in the meadows near our village. But today they are disappearing. Each of us must do everything possible to protect nature. Children, plant trees and flowers!
P6: There are many animals and birds in our district. We should not make unnecessary noise. If we don't keep to public paths in the countryside, birds and animals are frightened. We are proud of our classmates who made some bird feeders this winter and filled them with food. Children, take care of birds and animals!
P7: Every spring I see rubbish near our village. I think that our country people do it. They throw away old things, paper, clothes, toys, bottles and plastic bags. Maybe they don't know the 3R rules: reduce, reuse, and recycle. It's a pity! People, take litter home!

T.: Children, I have some news for you. The director of the Clean up the Town Organization gives you some information and suggests some important rules to protect the environment. Please, read the text about his information and suggestions on the protection of the environment and fill in the answers to the questions. (Работа по карточкам)
I’m the director of the Clean up the Town Organization. You know that polluted air, water and land are harmful for plants, animals and people. As a result of our investigations we have found out that some parts of our town are polluted. Sixty per cent of air pollution is caused by different means of transport: cars, trucks and buses. The local industries pour their waste into our rivers.
Modern lifestyle in which people do little exercise, use cars instead of walking, watch television for many hours and work on computers is leading us to catastrophe. We have to do something about this. Let us set up our own Clean up the Town Organization for Children. Its members will take part in actions for cleaning, tree and flower planting, protecting wildlife and organizing outdoor activities.

T.: We’ve already spoken about ecology and the importance of keeping the environment clean. Pollution is getting worse and worse. But there is always hope. What do you think? What do you think of the starting a Clean up the Town Organization for Children? Do you want to join this organization? Can you design posters about ecological problems? Can you suggest any rules to protect the environment? (Учащиеся высказывают свое мнение)
P1: I think the idea of starting a Clean up the Town Organization for Children is great.

T.: Thank you for your ideas, children. Now let’s design posters about ecological problems and write some rules to protect the environment. Workingroups, please.

T.: Children, you’ve agreed to joining a Clean up the Town Organization for Children. Now you are its members. Look, here is a flowering tree. Please, write your promises on its flowers. How can you help the environment?
T.: Our discussion is over. I’m sure that you are real friends of our planet. We must take care of it. We must keep our rivers and lakes, forests and towns clean. We must plant flowers, not to pick them, feed birds and animals, not to kill them. Then we’ll be happy to live on the most beautiful planet in the Universe. Let’s sing our song “Nothing Is Forever” (слайд 26).
